Chronic Pain Management

CLINICAL DEPARTMENT Pain Management

028 9268 0940

Pain is very personal and subjective with no two people experiencing it in the same way.  It can be a very unpleasant experience, especially if it continues for a long time.

Chronic pain is often defined as any pain lasting more than 12 weeks.  Whereas acute pain is a normal sensation that alerts us to possible injury, chronic pain is very different.  Chronic pain may arise from an initial injury, such as a back sprain, or there may be an ongoing cause, such as illness.  The pain isn't always relieved when you receive treatment.  Without adequate management, chronic pain can begin to affect all aspects of your life - you may be unable to work, your sleep may be affected and you may find it difficult to continue with activities that you enjoy.

At our private healthcare clinic in Hillsborough, our expert Consultant in Pain Medicine & Anaesthesia can offer a comprehensive assessment and timely management of symptoms to prevent chronicity.
