Dr Alan Rankin is a Consultant in Sport & Exercise Medicine based at the Sport Northern Ireland Sports Institute. Having previously worked in the Sport Ireland Institute and as High Performance Medical Officer for Athletics Ireland, he has a keen interest in the optimisation of athlete health and prevention of illness and injury. He has previously worked in a variety of sports including rugby union (Ulster Rugby Academy/ Ravens/U20s/ Ireland A/ Emerging Ireland), ice hockey, professional boxing, various Olympic sports and was a Sports Physician at the London 2012 Olympic/Paralympic Games as well as Team Physician with Ireland at the Rio 2016 Olympics.
